The Japanese sword fighting art is one that is steeped in cultural history. At the South African Kendo Federation the team of qualified instructors teach the Japanese art of swordsmanship that was made famous by the Samurai warriors of Japan. Training in the art includes learning to draw the blade safely and effectively, cutting and blocking techniques, tameshigiri (cutting targets of rice straw) and of course the higher order of skill, combative application and theory.
Introductory classes will be held from the beginning of each month, allowing for training twice a week for four weeks. Candidates that complete the full months course will receive a certificate of completion.
